E' una delle più antiche famiglie di Bologna estintasi sul finire del secolo scorso.

Ludovico B. andò alla guerra di Terra Santa con Goffredo di Buglione e fu Consigliere di questl'utimo a Gerusalemme;

Rainiero pure militò nella Crociata al tempo di Eugenio III

Orazio giostrò alle nozze di Tano Galluzzi e uscì tre volte vittorioso dallo steccato

Matteo nel 1297 fu podestà di Pisa

Ghilino fu gentiluomo di camera del Re d'Inghilterra nel 1344

Giovanni fu senatore di Bologna nel 1470, carica che sostennero pure Francesco nel 1472, Cesare nel 1549. Marcantonio nel 1581 e Giorgio nel 1624.

Dal 1608 si trova questa famiglia decorata dal titolo di conte.

I membri della famiglia assunsero anche il cognome Gambalonga e si imparentarano con i Pepoli, i Magnami, i Malatesta, i Caccianemici, i Castelli, e i Malvezzi.

La famiglia è iscritta genericamente nell'Elenco Ufficio Nobiliare Italiano del 1922 col titolo di Patrizio di Bologna (m.) in persona dei Discendenti da Giulio e col titolo di Conte (m.) in persona dei Discendenti di Pietro (1822).

Rainiero supported in the Crusade to the time of Eugene III

Orazio giostrò to the wedding of Tano Galluzzi and exited three times victorious from the competition

Matteo in the 1297 was podestà of Pisa

Ghilino was gentleman of room of the King of England in the 1344

Giovanni was senator of Bologna in the 1470, loads that they also supported Francesco in the 1472, Cesare in the 1549. Marcantonio in the 1581 and Giorgio in the 1624.

From the 1608 this family is decorated from the title of earl

The members of the family assumed also the Gambalonga surname and mixed with the Pepoli, the Magnami, the Malatesta, the Caccianemici, the Castelli and the Malvezzi.

The family is enrolled generically in the Directory Italian Noble Office of 1922 with the title of Patrizio of Bologna (m.) in person of the Descendants from Giulio and with the title of Earl (m.) in person of the Descendants of Peter (1822).
